Canon Cyril Moverley

Canon Cyril Moverley was born in Bradford and was a student at St Bede’s. He studied Philosophy and Theology at Ushaw College in Durham. He was ordained at St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds on 16th April 1950 and had his first appointment in Skipton.

He returned to his studies at Durham and Leeds Universities while assisting in the parishes of Christ the King, Bramley, Leeds, and St Mary’s, Horsforth. He then taught at Ushaw College for 14 years.
After this he was Parish Priest in Brimsworth, St. Joseph’s Harrogate, St Peter’s Doncaster then St Robert’s Harrogate where he served for 15 years, before coning to Pateley Bridge in 1993.

Canon Moverley retired to Hinsley Hall on October 3rd 2004 and moved to the Little Sisters Home due to ill health. He died on November 23rd 2007.
